Low branches on street trees are one of those things that sneak up on you. At first it's just a little inconvenient - ducking under a branch to get to your car or walking in the street to avoid the overhang. Then an HOA notice shows up in your mailbox and suddenly it's a real problem that needs to get handled.

That's exactly what we were dealing with here. A handful of mature trees along the driveway, sidewalk, and street had grown to the point where their lower branches were cutting into usable space. The canopy had filled in nicely over the years, but without proper clearance underneath, it created issues for vehicles, foot traffic, and - as the homeowners found out - the HOA.

Our approach on jobs like this is pretty straightforward. We focus on clean cuts at the right points so the tree heals well and keeps its natural shape up top. It's not just about chopping off whatever's in the way. Done right, crown raising actually helps the tree long-term by improving airflow and reducing weight on the lower structure. We used a pole saw to work through the lower canopy carefully, making sure we weren't removing more than needed.

The end result is exactly what it should be - open, usable space underneath the trees with the canopy still looking full and healthy from the street. The driveway and sidewalk have room to breathe. Vehicles can park without branches scraping the roof. And the homeowners knocked out that HOA notice for good.

If your trees are starting to crowd your driveway, sidewalk, or street - or if you've gotten a notice that clearance is an issue - this is a pretty common fix that makes a big difference. Tree trimming like this keeps things safe, clean, and complaint-free.
